I am on a quest for winter boots. I have a grey pair and a tan pair and both have 4" heels. I need some flat boots. Preferably lace up or with some kind of chunky detail and knee high. I am kind of considering getting a pair of knee high docs? But I'm also rather in love with these and I am not sure why.

Any suggestions? If I find a pair I am absolutely in love with, I'll spend the extra money. Apart from my two pairs of heeled boots and my converse, I don't really have a lot of winter shoes that are practical for walking around and stuff.

i'm debating getting a pair of tall docs too, my absurdly huge calves don't like most winter boots and the fact that most docs lace up and don't look half bad is a major plus. i personally can't wear these cos of the calf problem, but i think they are really nice and would probably be very comfortable and versatile too. i like plain boots though so that's my personal bias.

for myself i am kind of looking at these but i haven't yet decided if they are tacky or not. i need some tallish boots to wear with jeans/dresses and i like plaid, whatever.

Jamie knee high docs will not go with your dainty girly style.
I'm not really a fan of flat boots although a pair of simple black or chocolate brown riding boots would look very nice.

Dammit who puts a hammer in their pockets anyway, that is dumb. That is why carpenter's jeans have a hammer loop.

I'm not sure why that, of all the monstrosity of those pants, is what bothers me most, but it does.

Turns out there's a Diesel store in Perth now. I'd been driving to uni and not stopping in the city for so long that when I went through the city this week I was amazed at how much cool new stuff there is. Lots of cool new stuff. Perth is doing pretty well, I think.

edit - Heels and long legs will never go out of fashion. They're just too sexy for that.

Vintage can be used to describe anything made between the 1920s and the 1980s. It's just a nicer word than old.

I believe people have confused "vintage", which is an age term that precedes "antique", and "retro", which I believe means something akin to "throwback". I think "vintage" has recently evolved to also mean "authentic from the era".

So, no, vintage is not a style. Retro-[decade] is a style.

Common misconception, but as a whole you are tragically not vintage. I mean, like, your eyeballs and your heart, those are vintage gold by now, but things like your hair and your teeth, not so vintage. I mean, if you had dentures made out of your baby teeth, that'd be ultra-vintage but also ultra-unsettling so, you know, now you can look forwards to your thirties when you'll have a vintage mouth-full of teeth!

I feel it necessary to point out that those are the exact shoes my dad has. He buys a pair, wears them until they are falling apart, and then buys a new pair. The process has been repeated for the last 2 decades.

Ain't nothin' wrong with them shoes except that they tend to bespeak a very narrow, specific style. Unless you're already dressing ridiculously preppy, (like, knotting-sweaters-around-the-neck preppy) I'd advise against.

E: talkin about the shoes from Scarychips' post. Vans moc-tops are definitely NO
