Pageback, but I actually think Sam is going to rock the SHIT out of that sweatshirt/jacket deal. I like the cinch at the bottom, it should look pretty great on. Not wild about the pattern, but that's alright.

I know sometimes the "sporting" brands can come off a bit chavvy, but whatchoo guys think?

Ain't nothin' wrong with them shoes except that they tend to bespeak a very narrow, specific style. Unless you're already dressing ridiculously preppy, (like, knotting-sweaters-around-the-neck preppy) I'd advise against.

E: talkin about the shoes from Scarychips' post. Vans moc-tops are definitely NO

Well, too bad guys, I bought them today. That exact pair. (they were 50% off too, so yeah). And that's basically because I've been trying to wear preppier clothes these days, so, it goes into my "new style". I'll probably take pictures of the kinds of outfits I wear these days.
Honestly, it's because I'm trying to shy away from the jeans + t-shirt combo, or jeans + button-up flanel shirt combo or whatever. I want to look classier.
I have other pairs of shoes for more basic outfits, but yes, I am trying to go more towards the whole preppy thing.

I still would've gone for some canvas two-tone boat shoes or even that same model but in the "classic brown" colourway with the contrast laces. That "Amaretto" shit just pushes it way past acceptable levels for dadwear. A little dad influence is always welcome, but that's too much, man.

Heh. The "Classic brown" has been bugging me. They're pretty tight looking, but so are the navy ones.

Dovey: I already own a pair of canvas boat shoes, and that classic brown colourway is actually one of the colours I wanted to take if they didn't have the "Amaretto" ones. The store I went to only had the New Navy and the Amaretto ones, and I really, really don't like that New Navy colour.

Shane: Are we talking about the same pair? Cause, again, I think those New Navy ones are ugly.

But thanks guys! I like hearing people's opinions, even though I already bought them! I always appreciate diffreent points of view.

Is it normal for Urban Outfitters not to carry any jeans wider than 514s? I went in one yesterday because they were having a sale, but the only pair of 501s I saw was a display pair.

Also: How the hell do people fit in 510s? I can't understand how someone's leg can be small enough for it to fit in there.

2(also): I need to get some sunglasses now that I'm not wearing prescription glasses anymore. Is there a guide to finding shapes that fit your face? I've got a pretty long face, so the larger aviators I tried on looked pretty ridiculous.

510s?
I have a pair and they are really really really tight. I used to wear them all the time and just not wash them between wearings so they would stretch out and be less tight but still really really tight.

510s were made for people like me who are incredibly skinny, i dont like wearing much wider cuts cause it feels like im swimming in my clothes, which is a feeling i hate.

How are you that skinny? I've always been skinny, but I don't see how you fit in those. Maybe it's just because I've also always ridden my bicycle at the highest gear setting, so I've always had pretty big thighs. I just don't understand how someone has thighs that small, even after they stretch out some from wear.

I can eat 3500 calories a day and not gain any weight. I just don't see how there is room for anything beside bone in there. I understand that some people can fit in them, I just don't get how someone's legs are that small unless you never use them.

My thighs really aren't that small. Albeit, they certainly aren't big. For reference, I can touch my fingers around my thigh but when I'm sitting they still touch.

i ask myself the same question about other women constantly. even though i'm an arguably tiny person i have pretty thick legs to the point where i can't really wear most things designed for thin calves and thighs (tall boots, skinny jeans). i work out a lot but even when i wasn't exercising, they've always been thick my entire life. i think i could stop eating people until i literally starved to death and their shape wouldn't actually change that much. people just have different body types and bone structures, exercise and caloric intake only affect the actual framework of your body so much.

Pink satin pumps!
Only if they are the exact shade as the straps though.
I guess plain black would be fine too.

Didn't we already have The Talk about matching dress and shoes too closely?

That being said I'm pretty stoked about being a dude. What shoes do I wear with this? Brown or black? Oh, there's actually several easy-to-understand guidelines for that? Fantastic.

Nah, I think Julia just said I was too matchy-matchy for her, and I said that it is usually kind of the style? I mean I don't always get it right, obviously, which is why I am still here.

Well, anyway, acceptable pink shoes are hard to find, and also way expensive, as it turns out, so I guess I will go with black.

Edit: Wait, wait, maybe like these? Maybe?

If a dress has a print I would take perhaps the least used colour in the print and make that my shoe colour.
I usually wear things without a lot of pattern though, where any colour shoe is applicable really. I also dress mostly in dark, neutral and 'dusty' colours with no frills or accessories which are a lot easier to match together.
I guess mine and Katie's fashion senses will never really agree as she tends to prefer bright colours and lots of embellishment and shoes that only go with certain outfits.

See the thing is that dress is very busy with the cut, the print, and the two differing materials. Busy shoes + busy dress would just look to OTT to me.
Something like this would work perhaps - but like I said, only if it matched the pink colour EXACTLY or were a darker shade of the same colour.

But your safest bet would be something more like this.

I like the second pair Ally posted- you can definitely get away with a sandal-type shoe, since it's a very summery dress. Both the pumps Katie posted look horribly uncomfortable and cheap- a lot of ladies on Offbeat Bride while I was doing wedding planning crap had looked into various colors of those style shoes and pretty much everyone sent them back because they looked so bad in person.

Don't know if this is a sore subject, but I'm in love with my Sperry's. I have the oatmeal coloration, and it goes really well with darker jeans, especially as they wear down. The comfort factor is certainly there as well (they mold to your feet).

In a effort to get myself into heels, I am wearing these shoes today, they are cute and remarkably comfortable. The picture makes them look hella cheap and I suppose they were ($89) but they actually look much better in person and they have a padded footbed which is something lacking in most heels I try.

Yeah, it doesn't say, so I'm not sure. if it turns out they're open a long way down I'll just use this pale green skin tight mini tube dress I have (that I don't like wearing on its own because it's way too revealing) underneath, it's never warm enough in Scotland or Norway for layering to be uncomfortably hot anyway.

Edit:

Oh wait, this picture might show a little more on that subject:

I figure it'll be fine to wear it with a light coloured camisole underneath.

Well, that dress sure is. Long. And flowy. And a dress.

What I'm trying not to say is, I don't get it. I'm sure you'll make it look lovely and all, but I mean, still, what?
