Andy looks great, seriously, lose the preconceived notion that 'tights as pants' is horrible. Really if you are magnetically drawn to stare at the outline of a butt or vagina then convince yourself that it repulses you, that is your problem. Dont project it onto other people.
No, she doesn't. Almost anything she posts here, she does. In that, she doesn't. She looks like she is partway dressed for going out in the snow (the tights look like long underwear with the sweater that length). I would even go so far as to say that outfit looks like it belongs in an older American Apparel ad (from before they started hiring porn stars to model their clothes).

Heranje, I was making a joke about you typing @DrillKing rather than @Nodaisho.

I had assumed that the lining wouldn't be any closer to my body than a normal jacket is, but then again, these sweaters fit closer than most of my jackets.

Tights are not pants. That does not mean that people do not wear them in place of pants, nor that it necessarily looks bad. (I think it looks 80s, and kind of sloppy.) If Andy was asking for advice, there probably would have been a question mark in there somewhere, or a statement like "tell me what you think!", ok?

Also, today I am wearing a pair of Seven jeans that cost me $4 and a bangin sweater that was $2. I am pretty sure my trainers no longer count as costing anything because they are 6 or 7 years old. I am eating my sister's birthday cake and about to go get free food from the grocery, as paid for by my mother. wooooo

In that case, posting the picture in a fashion advice thread was probably what mislead us silly people into thinking input was wanted. :P Maybe this thread has turned into a "what I'm wearing" thread or something (I don't know, I lurk), but it's still labeled as a fashion advice thread.

(I think it looks 80s, and kind of sloppy.)

This is basically the opposite of things I like.  I am not enough into fashion to be able to comment intelligently on things that I dislike on stylistic grounds.  I think most people here are in that same boat, so maybe we should take a step back and think about whether or not we're judging based on style or based on fashion.

Your absence, while conspicuous, was not unintentional.

Also, Heranje, this is just a fashion thread. It always has been, or at least past page 5. Don't act like you know shit.

I'm fairly certain I established that I don't know shit by saying "I don't know, I lurk", and I was just trying to explain why I was discussing the tights.

But I'm really not looking for an argument, so hey. *backs down*

Andy looks like she should be curled up on a sofa or rug in front of a big fireplace in a living room where one wall is windows that look out onto snow-capped mountains and pine forests.

I really don't get why people keep complaining about tights. They don't look like underwear, they look like tights!

Probably because there are also tights that are intended for use as underwear that are similar in that they are also...um...tight.  I fully acknowledge that tights by themselves are a thing that some people like and that is okay.

That is what I am saying.

Maybe we should have one thread that is like "look at how good looking these people are" and another one that is like, "hey, these good looking people will help you look as good (almost as good) as them?

I mostly just like it when pretty people wear pretty clothes and post pictures of themselves in those clothes.

With like a denim thread and a "nasty thriftstore clothes people pretend look good" thread and a "thrift store clothes that actually look good thread, and a shoe thread and a jacket thread and I mean if only 10 people posted in it occasionally it would still be way more active than the comics or books forums.

Plus all the regular posters in that shit would be awesome

I'm going out to formal hall tonight (a posh dinner at another college) and I'll be wearing this dress.

I might change the belt, I have a variety of different ones, one of which is bright pink.

My question is, would it be better to wear black tights, black fishnet tights or no tights? My skin-tone tights are full of holes.

Also, black heels or silver heels? I'm thinking silver would go well with that belt but look stupid with the pink one.

Black heels with silver details (with that belt)?

I'm really not sure about fishnets but plain black might be too plain maybe.

Sadly I don't have any black heels with silver details. The fishnets are quite elegant, they aren't stripper fishnets but I'm not sure they're appropriate anyway. Gah.

Black patent leather shoes should be fine, or even better black or silver strappy sandals if you can wear them without freezing to death.  The monochromatic look can be so elegant!  Consider a very simple necklace but nothing too chunky or it will overemphasize the neck and bust.  And I think the silver leaf belt is lovely.

As for legs, I'd definitely consider no tights since depending on the tights they might make you look a little bottom heavy.  This is the sort of thing you want to be going for:

If the weather is really making you consider tights, or if you have very pale legs, go for a sheer black on the lighter side, sort of like this:

For all my bluster about this shit on the last couple pages, I barely give a care about fashion anymore. All I am really wearing is a pair of shrink to fit 501's, T-shirts, uggs, and my patagucci jacket. Sometimes I wear a hat.

It just seems to matter less and less.
