It's a boat shirt. It has boats on it. Like a Hawaiian shirt but with boats.

So, help me figure out what kind of jeans I am looking for, fashion thread.

I just got a few pairs of jeans from the thrift store, and while they fit well enough, next time I think I'll try to find ones with more of a taper on the lower leg. What kind of style is that, compared to the regular cut (I got two pairs of Levi 505s, which is what I am talking about when I say "regular" cut)? I don't have much extra space at all on the thigh, but they are looser on the calves than they need to be, and really have a lot of extra room at the ankle.

Flare: The lower leg tapers out moderately from the thigh.
Bootcut: The lower leg tapers out slightly from the thigh.
Straight cut: The legs are straight all the way down.
Slim/Skinny: The lower leg tapers in from the thigh. Can be anywhere from relaxed to skin tight.

I'm guessing you mean slim cut? I don't know if cuts differ from men to women, but those are basically the cuts I know of.

Dude if you go into a shop that sells jeans the people will point out the sort of things you should look at! People in shops are helpful like that. Just be sure you know how to tell them exactly what you do and don't like, and don't let them talk you into buying anything.
But yeah, Linds is correct in that slim cut seems to be the way to go. You might have to do some trying to find some slim cut that aren't ridiculously butt or thigh hugging, which is the annoying part of buying jeans.

Okay. I wasn't sure if there was a particular kind of cut that is tapered but not really tight, I guess I'll just have to try different kinds on next time, or go and buy a couple of new pairs so I don't feel like I'm wasting an employee's time finding the right jeans and then going out and buying them used.

Also, there's a big difference between skinny jeans and slim-cut jeans. Any good hipster store has Levi's slim-fit jeans that are hella comfy.

I used to care about that as a matter of authenticity, until I found a pair of jeans at a thrift shop with obviously manufactured aging that fit me better than any other pair of jeans ever had.

Dear fashion thread,

I am wearing grey sweatpants, tshirt and a jacket with a faux fur hood, the shoes I wear the most are actual sneakers for actual sport usage. I don't see this changing in the near future.

It was nice knowing you, fashion thread.

10/10 A+ trolling, tender.

So I bought some raw denim jeans the other day and I've been wearing them for about a week. I'm thinking about soaking them in some 55C degree water, blast freezing them, then throwing them on the grill at work to get some nice fading on them.

Yeah, but they kinda remind me of the under-the-chassis neon lights chavs fit to their cars. Their only practical purpose is to help people aim at them at night...

I think you would find that aiming at the light won't work as well as aiming at them.

And I have seen under-chassis lights look cool. Not practical, but there is an Acura (I think) around here that is all-white, looks like it is in good condition, has a well-fitted body kit, and has blue underglow and headlights, looks pretty damn slick, if a bit apple-ish. When you put it on your scratched up, stretched tire, hellaflush 1985 golf with mismatching paint, on the other hand, you look like a tool.

There are so many lights, though! Though they are a bit fugly (in a charming, foamy way), they are more practical than stringing a bunch of holiday lights to my shoes.

I was saying that the lights are the only good thing. The design of the shoe is what's horrible, not the lights.

Ignoring the lights, those shoes sort of remind me of the shoes Orlando Bloom's character in Elizabethtown got fired for designing and putting into production. Maybe. Except they had wings.

Uniqlo jeans are awesome, I've got a couple of pairs from there (although one I bought too big and then lost weight so I can't wear anymore!) - I think I might even prefer them to my 501s. It's a close call. That said, I have really bad luck with blue jeans - my Uniqlo pair and 501s have both been somewhat ruined by chewing gum and superglue respectively. Unfortunately I can't really afford to replace them.

(The pictures are a bit terrible due to being taken on a timer with a camera phone.)

BUNNY CAPE ^^^

I have on House Of Holland fake suspenders tights (That's British suspenders, not US ones obvs.)

I have some alterations to do, but I think it's a pretty good haul all in all.

Dovey, there's a giant Uniqlo in SoHo when you come to New York.

It'll make up for wasted travel time when you realize that Green in Blue is stupid (just went there last week, it's the size of a closet and sells really non-descript plaid shirts for $495. Although I guess if you want raw denim it's the place to be) because it's just a few blocks away.

God dammit you fucks, there is nothing wrong with Wayfarers. You do not need to post pictures of douchebags wearing Wayfarers because all this proves is that Wayfarers are extremely popular (see: classic) sunglasses.

There is only something wrong with that particular two-tone pair of (seemingly not actually) Wayfarers.
