Sad Music
The Thief:
While the lyrics aren't all that sad, the last minute of The Fiery Furnaces' Chief Inspector Blancheflower has a very melancholy sound to it.
Skibas_clavicle:
THE CURE first and foremost
Mogwai, Death Cab (makes me cry for some reason), Godspeed You Black Emperor, couple Jawbreaker songs, Bright Eyes...ok, i know that one's cliched by Conor, boy, you make me sad!
I can't think of better ones right now, i should get some sleep.
meddle:
Ever hear the Black Hawk Down soundtrack?
I need to listen to it to calm myself down sometimes.
Johnny C:
Good Charlotte makes me cry, though for altogether different reasons than most of the bands here.
Speaking of which, most of the bands here put out some good sad songs. Interpol is good sad music, and so is the Cure and Bright Eyes (though whether I get sadder or he gets sadder is up for debate). I think Wilco's "Wishful Thinking" is sad in a "I am crying whilst smiling" way, as is Thalia Zedek's "1926." And "Butterfly" by Weezer gets me every time.
KharBevNor:
Oh, also, thinking of it, Johnny Cash-Hurt.
Now that's emotion, bitches.
