Oh damn I regret buying Disco Volante now, I need something with more lyrics. Meh. I should have bought Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister.
I am always like this, I buy a cd and then I spend maybe a week regretting it. Hopefully it will solve itself, namely that I get some money for more cds at a time. Revolutionary concept.

I hope you stop regretting it a week later; Disco Volante is ace!

Although California is better.

Not strictly purchased, but my birthday was on Tuesday, and my presents just arrived from Amazon.

Rush - 2112
Rush - Moving Pictures
Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien
Joe Satriani - Crystal Planet
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here (the only Waters-written album I didn't own)
Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys
Dream Theater - Awake
The Who - Tommy

Pretty awesome haul, if I do say so myself. And it's only from my parents.

Kansas-Best of Kansas
Dream Theatre-Images and Words
Dream Theatre-Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

Snowblood - 'Being And Becoming'

They've got much better at the quiet parts since 'The Human Tragedy', but the heavy bits still crush. Ah, sweet brutality. Just goes to show that Glasgow can still churn out great records when it feels like it.

I haven't bought an album for aages. Cursed limited cash. There are some rather nice little gems in my local HMV (indie record stores? ahaha) though, such as Burzum - Draugen, Ministry - Rantology, Orange Goblin - The Big Black and a few unplugged gaps in my My Dying Bride and Darkthrone compilations (Peaceville, how I love thee), so I may just kick through there some time. Either that or there's a few CD's I've been thinking of buying online. Might snap up some of the World Serpent records clearance stock.

I've heard it before, I just never actually owned a copy until now.

I would say it's difficult to single out a 'best' Pink Floyd album. Dark Side, The Wall, Animals, Wish You Were Here, and even Meddle and Piper at the Gates of Dawn all have their merits.

But I have to admit I cannot stand Saucerful of Secrets.

I have to say that I have never heard Ummagumma. I'm not quite a Floyd completist (yet, at least).

But generally, I have difficulties declaring live albums a band's best effort.

I bought the album to the support at a Fightstar gig called MC Lars. His EP was called the Laptop EP. Has a song in it that some of you might have heard called Signing Emo.
I did an interview with him for my radio show after the gig as well. Cool guy.

I found out last (last last last? I go a lot...) time I was down at my local record store that they have every single Godspeed You! Black Emperor AND A Silver Mt. Zion album on vinyl. How fucking awesome? Seriously, how fucking awesome? They also apparently have a large Mike Patton cd collection I did not previously know about and the person working there and me had a pretty great conversation about Patton and how I kind of really need a copy of Mit Gas, like, RIGHT NOW.

Purchases:

For brother on vinyl: "Classic Yes", Elton John's "Honky Chateau", and some Jethro Tull compilation.

For self: The Bad Plus - "Suspicious Activity", Yngwie Malmsteen - "Concerto Suite"

All the albums have their merits, even More has The Nile Song - except for Ummagumma, which is utterly dire.

However, I still maintain that WYWH is their finest work. DSOTM was blatant commercialism - that doesn't mean it's bad, in fact it's excellent - but On The Run is pointless. Ditto Pigs On The Wing for Animals - while the two songs are vital to the concept, if you're just listening to music they're kinda a wasted three minutes. The Wall is absolutely an acquired taste and has its shakier moments - Vera, anyone? Meddle is mostly good, but uh...Seamus?

As for Piper - Syd was a legend, but his album wasn't brilliant.

If you can't see the point in On the Run you don't have decent headphones/stereo. The Wall was the first Floyd album I got into and I won't diss a single cut.

Wasn't expecting too much from this album but it surprised me and i think it's better than their last 2 albums. Also it comes with a dvd which has the making of and also the album on the dvd. Very cool.

Killswitch Engage - The End Of Heartache
A fantastic third album. I wasn't too much of a fan of their earlier work but this album I have really enjoyed. Why can't more bands be this good?

Just today I got a live recording by Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker - Town Hall, New York City, June 22, 1945.  Only released this year, never previously issued.  I can't believe that this recording was just sitting around somewhere and nobody knew anything about its existence - for 60 years!  Holy shit, a high-quality llive recording of Diz and Bird playing together at their peak is like the Holy Grail of modern jazz!
