Other recent acquisitions include Lauryn Hill - MTV Unplugged and Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree. The ones I will publicly admit to on here, at least.

I don't know about their entire album, but I decided to hate Fall Out Boy after they butchered that Gorilla Biscuits song. Nobody Fucks with my Gorilla Biscuits, dammit.

Well, that and their song Sugar something or other just bugs the hell out of me.

You have no idea how much I hate that song. Not to mention that Fall Out Boy has been around for years, but as soon as they get ONE MTV hit suddenly everyone is the biggest Fall Out Boy fan ever. It makes me sick.

Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree.

NOOOOOOOOO. Nah, that's okay. They're not my cup o' tea, it's just that I get calls for those guys at the radio station all the time and, to be perfectly honest, I just can't take it anymore.

Haha. One reason why I don't listen to the radio anymore.

I'm not even a fan of them, it was recommended to me and I got it for free. So I figured, what the hell. It's not great, I'll definitely say that. But it's better than the other CDs I got. blech.

I too assumed that they popped out of nowhere, but I tned to assume that with alot of MTV bands, seeing as many of those bands DO just come from nowhere. In some cases, the bands are so hideously awful (Hawthorne Heights, for one) that I actually pray to God/Allah/Buddha/Flying Spaghetti Monster that they were created by the companies.

If you're going to make a blanket statement about Fall Out Boy and MTV you might want to mention that they were a "You Hear It First" band and as a result a bunch of people got into their previous album. Especially since it sounds like your judgment has nothing to do with the music and everything to do with the fans.

Anyway, just ordered:

Yeah, durr. I was listening to that song while I was typing this, and I think I might have thought I was posting in the What You're Listening To thread. I'm not a big fan of that song, to be honest, but I really liked Epitaph and the title track.

Just got the big Amazon.ca package in the mail!

Sufjan Stevens- Michigan AND Illinois(e)
Franz Ferdinand- You Could Have It So Much Better
Various- This Bird Has Flown

The Stevens albums are to give him and his record label some "thank-you" money for the bootlegs I already have, and i'm really digging the Beatles covers.  As for the Franz Ferdinand... i'm staring at the package thinking "why?"

No, it's not! Stop liking this shitty band! They have no talent, their lyrics blow and their stage antics are beyond sad! They have no right to exist!

And as for "Mein Teil": Yup, very provocative and sick song alright. Works like this: Take a "shocking" topic, write shitty quasi-main-stream song about it with fitting lyrics and make damn sure the lyrics don't cross the line so the video of the song still gets airplay on MTV. Fuck that.

Seriously, Rammstein, I've got a suggestion for you: Do you want to go on a "Reise"? How about one straight into retirement, you dumb fucks?

My, your criticisms almost sound like you think they're a serious band. Shut up. They're fun, they have a theatrical stage-show second only to Alice Cooper, and industrial rock never required talent anyway. I say this only as, frankly, I probably loathe every band that means something to you, and could answer every post you make in such a fashion. You dislike Rammstein because you don't get their appeal, that's fine. Now go back to your shitty mathcore.

As for Reise, Reise, I thought it was a bit of a let-down after Mutter. I wanted more Laibach-esque keyboard atmospherics, dammit.

I know damn well that this band is a joke but for some strange reason, 99% of the people who listen to it will jump your throat the second you say that, claiming that they're serious musicians with shocking lyrics that have something to say and some really hard music or whatever.
I dislike Rammstein for a couple of reasons. First of all, they get hyped for lyrics that are in essence utter crap.  Second of all, the prove my theory that every German band since Can and Kraftwerk that managed to become popular abroad actually sucks. Then, their music adds nothing whatsoever, it's not complicated ot challenging in any way. Substituting a lack of musicial substance with third reich references does not work. And finally, most of their fans are stupid kids who claim to be all hardcore, destroy every pit because they have no idea about the mechanics of a good pit but will be the first ones to call security because you broke their nose by kicking them in the face.
What further fuels my hatred for this band is the fact that the only video they over produced that deserved to be called shocking in a way was the one for Stripped and most Rammstein fans I've talked to don't even get it because they've never heard the name Riefenstahl.

Also, maybe, if they hadn't ripped off 80% of their routine of another German band (you might want to have a look at Oomph)...

I guess what ruins Rammstein for me isn't as much the band itself but the hype and the majority of the people who like it as well as the fact that they are often perceived as a "typical German band" for some reason. They're not.

As for insulting mathcore/rock: The standard insults I usually hear is "it's irritating, it has no structure and no melody" - well, yeah, that's why I listen to it.

And the precise reason I listen to Rammstein is because they're fun industrial rock. Sure, they're not virtuoso's, but also they're hardly the Sex Pistols. Yeah, they ripped off Oomph, and Laibach, and KMFDM, but so what? Don't hate a band for it's fans, hard as it may be. Also, if you're talking about kicks in the face, you're expecting (probably poser) rivetheads to understand the dynamics of a hardcore pit, which is pretty ridiculous. Just rake the sand from your vagina, man!

My student loan finally came, so I went and got myself:
Charles Bronson - Discography
I've had this on tape for about five years now, but since it's damn near impossible to sit through the whole things in one go (it's over 120 songs) this has been on my 'to get' list since I first heard it.
Bilge Pump - Let Me Breathe
I've been meaning to get this since it came out a couple of years ago. Another essential.
V/A - Bitter Days Ahead
It has Voorhees and Wives of Seth on it. Killer.
