deborah:

--- Quote from: Storyteller ---I have always wondered about that... what parts connect to what part of the Odyssey? The Sirines and the Cyclops are obvious... but what are the others?
--- End quote ---

well, he has been away from home for a number of years, everyone thinks he's dead/ditched out, his wife is on the verge of getting remarried...
it's not an exact copy, mind you, and i'm pretty sure the coen brothers said they'd never even read the odyssey.  this site has some more answers about it.

plus, i think the "super lady" thing wasn't to establish margie's character so much as it was a chance to have a chinese-american with a minnesotan accent.  you take people like him and the gum-chomping "white bear lake.  go bears!" chick for granted around here until you see them on the big screen and then you laugh your ass off.  and for those outside of the area, i'm sure it just sounded kinda funny.

heretic:
yeah i thought this was a fairly large blockbuster... your friends are playing a trick on you

edited out the retarded....

Maui:
Woohoo!! I love that movie.

--- Quote ---Do i just live in a "geographical oddity', where people don't watch good films?
--- End quote ---

Yes, Yes, Yes, oh and YES! People here think good music is Britney Spears and a good movie is Herbie:Fully Loaded. GAHHHHHHH.

Edited to be less confusing***In reference to Oh Brother.....,I know most of my good friends have seen it, but im sure no one else has even heard of it.

heretic:
everyone's heard of it, it just came out. plus it had that little cunt lindsay lohan in it.

Neskah:
Sadly heretic, my br, friends and co-workersare not joking.

We're an amazingly varied bunch, so we don't share all the same interests. Thou there is one friend that has remarkabley similar film and music taste with me, I would hav thouht he'd at least seen in it or heard of it.

Sad thing is I could never sit them down to watch it.
