Because this comic is so greatly influence by music, I thought this would be a good place to start.  Now I am more into punk, ska, classic rock, old alternative grunge, and other random stuff.  There are three indie bands that I really enjoy thoroughly, but I haven't seen anything about them thus far.  So, here they are, in list format.

The Dandy Warhols
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Of Montreal

Anyone else like these bands?

You're not looking for recommendations, are you? If you are...

The Dismemberment Plan (just because they are awesome)
Mock Orange (especially Mind is Not Brain and the First EP. They sound like a mutant classic rock band now :P)
Bear Vs. Shark
The Shins
Pavement
The Ponys
(the guitar work is very Stones-like, and they are fairly remeniscent of the Talking Heads)

...and I'm sure there are others.

I haven't heard much of those 3 bands, but I love what I've heard from Of Montreal.

That's because the Dandy's are psych/trance-rock. But yeah, I'm surprised more people don't mention them, they're a great band.

If you like the Dandies then you'll like the Brian Jonestown Massacre, the band they feud with in "Dig!"

I was just thinking about how nobody mentions the Warhols and some other bands today...but I forgot what the other bands were...
Maybe that's why nobody mentions them...

Yeah, now I have a buttload of bands to check out, wo0o0o0!  I've heard Brian Jonestown Massacre before, they didn't excite my pants the way the Warhols do.  I'm really looking forward to The Ponys, since I love the Stones.  Yes, Pixies are quite astounding.  And yeah, Warhols are a bit more of a drug induced band, which I love.  I'm totally drug free, but I love drug inspired music.  I actually just got my first taste of the Decemberists as well, and I'm honestly not sure how I feel about them, I have literally only hear about 30 seconds worth of them, but I'm gonna try and hear more.  Yeah, I just heard Of Montreal a couple weeks ago, and I just fell in love with their new album.  I don't know if the Zutons would be classified as Indie, but they're pretty cool too.  Thanks for the feedback guys and gals.

the New Pornographers will rock your pants, and if you like them, look up Neko Case and AC Newman too, their solo projects kick.

Heh, 30 seconds of The Decemberists is all I can stand. XP

But yeah, The Dismemberment Plan. Groundbreaking rock, man. Same with Mock Orange, though they're hard to find.

The Ponys are a mix of things, as well, so don't go in expecting ALL of the songs to have Rolling Stones-like guitar riffs. A few songs remind me of them, though.

I went to Intonation and saw a lot of bands mentioned here, but I seen Of Montreal before that, they were very happy people, totally not what I assumed, it makes no sense to cut to them now.

And I like that DFA1979 ava, I have that shirt (they rocked ass live).

That was the single greatest thing I've ever read Sturge. I missed their last show because something came up, it was apparantly halarious and full of coke-snorting gays. NEXT TIME!

So, I have now listened to Pavement.  The first thing that crossed my mind was "it's like The Cure, only good."

Also, I'm digging The Ponys like whoa.

Those are the only two I've gotten into so far, Bear Vs. Shark and Guitar Wolf, and Dismemberment Plan are next in queueueueu for Winamp.

I dont know how many ue's to put in queueueue, so I always just put too many.

Oh, just a warning: Bear Vs. Shark scream a lot, though the scream sounds more like a bear, so it's not as abrasive.

If BVS doesn't sound like the right thing for you, you may want to switch it's place on the list for The Walkmen.

The Dandies peaked with 13 tales, their new stuff just doesn't come close. (I hate the 'I only like their old stuff' people but in this case its true).

I'm seeing Of Montreal this Saturday!  I love them.   The Gay Parade got me through senior year of high school/freshman year of college way back when.

Also, this is Kevin Barnes dressed as a lion.

This was A Pollinaire Rave, not Of Montreal, though.  A Pollinare Rave was madness.

B.R.M.C's new album, Howl, is wonderful. Check it out, k? It's alot different from the first two... very bluesy and southern. They still have that lo-fi sound, but instead of loud rock guitars it's folky blues anthems.

I love me some Of Montreal as well.

The Shins

I downloaded some stuff by The Shins because they were on Scrubs and so New Slang got stuck in my head. From what I've heard so far they're brilliant and so far they've inspired me quite a bit. I meant to do a google search and try to find out some background information on them but haven't yet.

Dandies definitely peaked at 13 tales, but I still enjoy their new stuff quite a bit.  Not the newest one coming out though.  There are a couple really cool songs on it, but some of the tracks just seem to drag on.

BRMC's Howl is amazing, it was the first I heard of them, and I fell in love.

Pavement and Of Montreal are by far my favorite new bands though.  Ponys are running a close second.

A friend just sent me in the direction of The Faint, I haven't listened to much yet, but it's sounding alright.

My brother made me listen to more Decemberists, and it gave me a headache.  I've listened to Choking Victim louder than anything is worth without getting a headache.  Decemberists at a reasonable volume made my brain want to explode.  I asked why the singer doesnt learn to sing, and he said it's the way they record him, and I said they should record it normally.

I cant stand Bear Vs Shark, and Im not a fan of the Walkmen either.  My thoughts on BvS is that they are trying too hard, they have too much going on, and none of it makes sense.  And the Walkmen just don't touch me in the right spot.

I haven't had a chance to check any of the other bands out yet, I've been pretty busy.

My post on three bands has gone crazy.
