It's pretty good.  I'm not too good at talking about music but here is my attempt at describing it.  It is definitely more polished sounding.  It starts out sounding a bit like someone turned up the volume and distortion on Tegan & Sara. It slowly turns into this Chrissie Hynde meets Janis Joplin meets a little bit of Loretta Lynn sounding vocals with a polished Pixies rock sound.  And yet it's still distinctly Karen O. and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

I've had it for less than 24 hours and I've listened to it straight through six times, there isn't any particular track that I find weak, but in terms of a high point, I really like the song "Warrior."  I'd say go for it, I believe it comes out next tuesday.

I'm currently listening to it for the seventh time.

Mclusky - love song for a mexican

From the C sides disk of Mcluskyism. The A sides disk is perfect if you don't own any Mclusky, otherwise it's just a basic best-of. The B sides disk is garbage. And the C sides disk just what a good live disk should be.

Ellen Allien & Apparat - Leave me Alone

Apparat is German glitch-pop on (as could be expected) Ellen Allien's Bpitch Control label.  Their latest collaboration with Allien is called Orchestra of Bubbles and is great classic techno (as per Allien's style) mixed with glitchy goodness.  Could have come out in 1999, but still sounds great now.

They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore - Kinky Friedman

Unless you actually listen carefully to the lyrics, you'll think this is the most offensive song ever, with all the racial slurs and what have you. Really good song though, and the way it's written is so funny, 'cause god knows we've all met a guy like the one mentioned in the song.

Under Byen - Slå Sorte Hjerte(Beat Black Heart)

I am somewhat irritated by people who say they like all kinds of music. Because more often than not it is lies and latin.
My mother for example has said this, but she listens mostly to female singer/songwriters. No electronica, no rock, no jazz, no gamelan etc.
ergo she does not like all kinds of music. This may be due to ignorance of other genres than what is currently popular.
But it stills rubs me sideways.

Ack, it bugs me too. And then it turns out that they only really listen to like, one artist from any other genre (Like, for country, Johnny Cash is the usual culprit here).

I'm totally riven between whether King Diamond or Mercyful Fate is better. Both have THE KING, of course. KD has more sort of, focused writing, musically, which is rocking, as Mercyful Fate songs can feel a bit disjointed, but KD simply doesn't pack as many sheer genius riffs/harmonies etc. as MF.
