Aye as well as mine and now for something completely different:

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy

It seems that for once the hype is justified. I didn't particularly like Cee-Lo's latest album but this is very good indeed :)

Dagon Tabernacle Choir - Silent Night, Blasphemous Night

'A Very Scary Solstice' is just one of the best things ever.

"Silent night blasphemous night,
People quail at the sight
Monsters rising from deep Rl'yeh
People screaming 'please go away'
Great cthulhu has come

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy

TripleJ played that album in full last week some time, it's been sitting in my car's tapedeck ever since. It's a little hit and miss, but when it hits it's dead on.

I've heard it a couple of times and there's nothing as immediate as Crazy on it. It's not as much a concept album as it is a conceptual album in the vein of Gorillaz. Cee-Lo is of course great and Danger Mouse definitely has some interesting beats but right now as I see it there is only one hit on it.
But then again I probably wouldn't know a "hit" if it punched me in the face.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Honeybear

I will still venture that it is a good album. Basta.

I think the thing that makes it work is the way it seems like Dangermouse and Cee-Lo are just having fun. 'Hits' really didn't mean anythng in the charts kinda way, just the track I'm getting into.

Lately I've been listening to Calexico and Iron & Wine's In the Reins with a healthy dose of AFX - Selected Lords and random Autechre tracks thrown in.

Death in June - Rose Clouds of Holocaust

This just may be the most beautiful song ever.

"Rose clouds of holocaust
Rose clouds of lies
Rose clouds of bitter
Bitter, bitter lies

And, when the angels of ignorance
Fall down from your eyes
Rose clouds of holocaust
Rose clouds of lies...

Rose clouds of twilight truth
Rose clouds of night
Rose clouds of harvested
love, all alight

And, when the ashes of life
Fall down from the skies
Rose clouds of holocaust
Rose clouds of lies...

And, festivals end
As festivals must
From the hooded crows of Rome
To the falcons of Zagreb
Oh, mother victim of Jesus
Lie down in Sydney's dust
For, festivals end
As festivals must"
