John Zorn is actually more accessible than I thought, the sax-squeals are the only thing I find a bit demanding.
However it is still tres bizzare to blast on a hot summer afternoon.

YAY ZORN!
My favorite musician, probably ever. His Masada works and soundtracks are absolutly genius.
If youre interested, I posted a Masada tribute song by Rashanim in the Forced Music thread. Taken out of the fifth volume of the 10 year anniversery Masada tribute CDs, Masada Rock.

Mastodon - Leviathan

it is less grand than I thought it would be judging by the cover. But it is still tight as fuck and reminds me of good old Entombed. Another thing I didn't expect was the vocals to be so buried in the mix but looking at the lyrics that is probably a good thing. I never got to Ahab and Moby Dick in the book so this is my substitute for now.

I'm tempted to agree, as an album.  It's mainly because Spencer Krug wrote all the songs on the Sunset Rubdown album, and he's the more skilled on Apologies.  But I haven't listened to Shut Up I'm Dreaming enough to really say.  Apologies certainly has some better individual songs though.

Man. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only Wolf Parade lover who really just can't get warmed up to Sunset Rubdown. Probably my favorite track out of Shut Up I'm Dreaming is They Took A Vote And Said No. Probably its because my favorite Wolf Parade songs have always been songs written by Dan (Modern World, Shine A Light, This Heart's On Fire).

Atom and His Package - Hats Off to Halford

Chances of being gay are more than one in ten
That means there's a forty percent chance that one of the guys in Pantera likes men
Hey!
So I think its safe to say that many more metal guys are homosexual
This may frustrate the gay community
Why would they want the ugly metal heads available?
See I told you metal dudes are gay too
And I happen to see the proof so far that your sexuality determines the way you play guitar
Oh! I'd love for everyone in heavy metal to be homosexual
If not only to make the nazi fucking pricks in slayer a little uncomfortable

I absolutely loved This Heart's On Fire, and none of Dan's songs are bad by any stretch.  In fact, they're all great, but I though that Spencer's songs were better, especially Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts and I'll Believe in Anything.
