Tim Burton!!!!
crazybritishsteve:
Tim Burton and Danny Elfman are the best combination for movies. That doesn't mean that either of them on their own are fantastic, but they complement each other's styles perfectly.
Calling people that like Burton's movies idiots or people who don't know films is a little O.T.T.
Bunnyman:
--- Quote from: Kid Modernist ---Ed Wood is a great movie, any way you slice it.

Fa shizzle.
Tim Burton makes movies with a distinct vitality. However, you might want to get back to me in a few months or so since both Nightmare Before Christmas and Johnny Depp are lingering in my "Uncanny Valley of popularity" at present. Apologies for being a total hipster snob.
I Am Not Amused:
If anyone who has been mentioned in this thread is overrated, its Edgar Allen Poe. At least as a poet. His short stories are wonderful, but his poems (yes, even the Raven) are pretty and pointless. He gets style points, but no substance points as far as the poems go.
Also, Big Fish is my favorite Burton movie. Such a wonderful break of tradition from him, but SUCH a Burton movie still. All the actors put in terrific performances, the pacing is wonderful, and it has my favorite scene of any movie I've ever seen in my life.
"When you see the love of your life, time stops."
Also.
--- Quote ---I don't think he's one of the most overrated directors, he certainly has a unique style, but most of the people I've met who adore him are not actual movie buffs.
They like him because they think that they're liking something truly unique, and it makes them feel special... kind of like indie kids.
They don't realize that he's just about as commercial as any director can get.
Maybe that's harsh, but I've just never met a Tim Burton fan who's tastes in film I could take seriously.
And I've never met a Tim Burton fan who was - frankly - all that bright.
--- End quote ---
The above is probably one of the most ignorant statements I've heard or read in quite a while.
kid_militia:
How can someone say "good Burton movie" and not say "Batman." Seriously, if there is a Batman movie that MUST be seen, its the first one. Perfect style, perfect characters. Michael Keaton will always be Bruce/Batman in my eyes, and Jack Nicholson will always be Jack Napier/the Joker. Burton created the only true Gotham for me.
"Hey Eckhardt! Think about the future!" *Bang*
I was also glad at the mention of Peewee and Beetlejuice, too, as well.
airamek:
