live disappointments
Thrillho:
Green Day.
The show was brilliant. Then I saw Bullet In A Bible...and Live 8...and some live shows on MTV...and Storytellers...
They've been playing the same setlist and having the same 'banter' and 'spontaneity' for the last year and a fucking half.
nescience:
--- Quote from: Jarne ---The Fiery Furnaces stopped doing the whole "string together a bunch of songs for the entire show" thing, as far as I can tell. When I saw them, they just did rockin' versions of their songs from all th' albums.

No, that's still their live show. Transitions or no, they have been playing their songs way too fast ever since "Blueberry Boat" came out.
cibohphobic:
My first exposure to The Fiery Furnaces was a year ago or so, when I saw them open for Wilco. I thought they were fantasticsupergreat.
Worst show I've seen would have to be Death Cab for Cutie, though. There was nothing really wrong with them, inherently (I'm not a fan of theirs to start with, so that doesn't help, but that wasn't the whole of my dislike), it was just boring. Honestly, the loudest the crowd got was when the guitarist would announce the score of the Yankees-Red Sox playoff game between songs. I'm pretty sure that's a bad sign.

When I was a young-un, I was really into Sean Lennon. Wow, old-school. Anyway, the Sean opened the first "real" show I ever saw (with Pearl Jam, huh huh), and he decided that he wanted to do a lot of rap and complained at regular intervals that the crowd wasn't "moshing enough." It was kinda blow.

Dude, it's punk. Everything is recycled.
