live disappointments
Inlander:
Any band or singer that just reproduces the songs verbatim from their albums is a sure-fire dud for me. If I go to see a live show, I don't want to have exactly the same aural experience I could have had at home. I want to see a little variation and experimentation, dammit!

The show was brilliant. Then I saw Bullet In A Bible...and Live 8...and some live shows on MTV...and Storytellers...
They've been playing the same setlist and having the same 'banter' and 'spontaneity' for the last year and a fucking half.

its well known that they recycle their sets and stuff..
but its not like anyone would really go see them more than once between each album, and they do change their stage act from album to album.
at least, i think they do.

that's why i'm probably never going to see Green Day. most of my favorite songs by them are stuff that they never play because they aren't radio hitz (e.g., "Westbound Sign", "Stuart and the Avenue", a bunch of stuff off their Lookout! releases, etc.)
last time i saw Voodoo Glow Skulls i was really disappointed. their drummer kept going off-beat, and slowing down and speeding up, and the band was struggling to keep pace with him. i have no idea what was up with them that day.
i was also disappointed with Mustard Plug, because they were really just kind of boring. i don't like them that much anymore, anyway, though.

Dude, it's punk. Everything is recycled.

I wouldn't give a shit if the setlist was the same, but EVERY show they give the kid a guitar, EVERY show they fire the super soaker at the crowd, EVERY show he says 'whatever bastard's in power, be an individual!'
almost thursday:
green day were okay at leeds festival. after they played i said to my friend "oh man, i can't believe they didn't play good riddance" and he looked at me and in all seriousness said, "i know! and they didn't play time of yr life, either!" i just smiled because i thought he was joking, but EVERY SINGLE PERSON i spoke to said the EXACT SAME THING. it was awful.
worst live gig i've ever been to was converge. the band were good but i got the shit kicked out of me.
