Anyways to add to my point above, how can there even be an argument; III was the best (that’s North American III, I dont know which number it is in Japan but it’s the one with Tera and Kefka and King Edgar and all that). The battles were straight forward, but not too easy, the characters were fully fleshed out, and the story, oh god the story, it still blows my mind and I've beaten it like 5 or 6 times. VII was great, I'm still playing X but it's fun so far VIII was even pretty cool (and lets not forget II), but come on guys, its all about fuckin Kefka!

No problem, always glad to help people remember an RPG as good as that one.  And in Japan FF 3 was FF 6, one of the ones I did complete.  I would have to argue that the characters weren't as fleshed out as later installments, and a couple of them seemed downright superfluous from both a story and gameplay standpoint.  That's one of the reasons I gave 7 the slight edge over it; it had fewer characters, but they were all used much more effectively, and no one felt like a fifth wheel.  The story in 6 was good, and Kefka's still a rather unique villain in the RPG genre, someone who lacks outright power, but more than makes up for it with his cunning and outright lunacy.  However, as fine a game as it is, I still didn't get immersed in it as completely as I was with FF 7 and Tactics.

Hey, you liking nine isn't that bad.  At least you aren't supporting Tactics Advance.

SomeOtherGuy:
NOBODY supports tactics advanced... unless they have never heard of original tactics... and then they should be shot in the face.

Precisely.  I mean, I'm not one of those Xbox fanboys who goes aorund calling every Nintendo product kiddy, but let's face it; in the case of Tactics Advance, the label fits.  Big time.  It's a bad game all by itself, but even more offensive in its sucktitude because of how opposite it is from the first Tactics.
