Big Day Out

<< < (3/4) > >>

Hat:
None of the big bands I like ever headline the BDO (despite the persistant rumour every goddamned year that Maiden will be playing) so I never bother the trip down the coast and the huge price tag, to see the smaller bands I'm interested in play in a goddamned hot, uncomfortable setting, on a Sunday.

From what I can tell, the last few BDO's have been pretty weak. Chris Cheney seems to do that thing with the slide guitar beer bottle every year, and I heard Iggy was looking pretty old and raggard on stage.

Public Liability concerns are making music festivals a less enjoyable experience as a whole in the last few years. Hell, even Market Day was pretty expensive this year. I would like to go to Homebake and the Falls Festival at some point in my life though, they always have interesting lineups, and it's not hard to lure me to Splendour in the Grass year after year, so I'm not dumping on the whole festival experience, but the BDO just doesn't appeal to me as much as it did six years ago

ozroller:
My mate has gone to see it in melbs, I opted out, don't like the line up. Last years line up was way better.

Disgustipated:
I went on thursday. It was an absolutely fantastic line up - I mean, its iggy! He was absolutely amazing. I also saw Wolf and Cub, The Presets, Sleater-Kinney (who were great), The Magic Numbers, Sarah Blasko, Henry Rollins (spoken word), The Living End, Franz Ferdinand And The White Stripes. Totally worth the ticket price.

I fell asleep during the go team and woke up listening to Henry Rollins talk about some band and then he goes "cause it's fucking nirvana man" and the crowd goes ape shit. I didn't get it.

Gryff:
Maybe 'cause you were asleep?

Rollins was a cool little diversion. I enjoyed his ranting.

Also, how do you fall asleep during the Go! Team? Seriously!
