I have been listening to Mr. Rimsky's Scheherezade on loop for a good three hours.
It never stops being good.

Currently I am listening to Last FM online radio. (radio is such a cool word, for the fact rad is in it.)

Caesar - Spain, kinda slower than I would like, but decent none the less.

Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy Name

There was a time when I *thought* that I didn't like Iron Maiden. Quite foolish of course.

Menomena

I guess they might be considered slightly repetitive. This only matters if you ignore the fact that every song is sickeningly awesome.

I just finished listening to the Hansome Furs' album, Plague Parks.  It is really excellent, similar to Wolf Parade's slower songs, but not completely the same.  It is a contender for one of my favourite albums so far of the year, we'll just see how it stands up to the test of time.

Now I am listening to:

Garm, damn he's voice is so amazing so versitile.

These lyrics are from Edgar Allan Poe's poem of the same name.

I'm listening to the first Manau CD.  I think it's utterly brilliant and a total shame that they didn't continue along this road. I love the bagpipes and flutes and cellos as back up to some serious rapping. And french is a good language to hear rap in, I think.

Lyrics Born - Do That There

Part of a part of a mix I'm making. One more section after this one, though the last will be way more difficult than the first two which fell together really well and easily.

Tom Waits - Ol' '55

I love this song!

The Eagles version of it could quite easily be one of my favourite songs of all time.

"One Piece At A Time" - Johnny Cash

Such a shame nobody gave two shits about him before he died. It is definitely nice to hear his stuff again on country radio when I go back to visit the States.

Finntroll - Ending

Windir cover from disc 1 the Valfar ein Windir  tribute album.

I got the SognaMetal DVD the other day as well, was hell expensive but I think it was worth it, was a very fitting to tribute to have Valfar's brother come on stage and start singing.

Here's one of the songs someone uploaded to you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gILar4VBP7s

Windir were one hell of an awesome band.

The Sisters of Mercy - Flood II

I've been a Sisters of Mercy fan ever since I finished school and Floodland would have to be one of my favourite albums of all time. Flood II is a good song on its own, but as part of the album as a whole it really shines.

Exquisite Russian Brides - To Increase In Size(Excerpt)

It is interesting Danish drone ambient. You can listen to some of it here. In general Denmark has a small but good drone/noise "scene". Something like New Zealand I suppose. We do not have someone of Birchville Cat Motel's calibre though as far as I know.

What's wrong with Converge??? Converge >>> Polar Bear Club, though Polar Bear Club are decent.

Right now, for me it's Don't Ask Why by My Bloody Valentine. Is any explanation needed?

"Major Label Debut" - Broken Social Scene

Somebody told me I wouldn't like these guys just because I've been a classic rock guy for so long. He said the same thing when I told him I was going to check out Pavement. I now have their entire discography. I'm probably going to end up with this band's entire discography before it's all said and done.

Naio Ssaion is basically the german Nightwish, except they've still got their singer, and they've got a violinist! What's not to like?

Man, I grew up on that album. To Forgive is one of the best Pumpkins songs.
I'm pretty sure that if I'd listen to it now it'll make me cry.

On topic, I'm not listening to anything but Alfred Schnittke's Rondo from his first Concerto Grosso (for two violins, harpsichord, prepared piano and strings) is playing in my head.

I'm streaming bits and pieces of the new Blonde Redhead album because of incidently hearing 'Elephant Woman' yesterday and seeing a bunch of people here talking about them. It sounds pretty good. I've never really checked them out before and they're living up to expectations. I realise now that this is the band I needed to hear when in those moods where you want to listen to radiohead but you really don't want to listen to goddamn radiohead.

'Top Ranking' is probably my favourite so far.

Was poking around the Favourite track of all time thread and realised I hadn't properly appreciated this band in far too long, so I've got a playlist of 5 albums from 'Eternity' through to the present day... not a bad track on it of course.

They're actually a Sonic Youth tribute band. At least in their first albums. I started litening to them from Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons, that took me a few listens to start liking and a few more to love it. I'm now litening to Kazuality from Fake Can Be Just as Good.

Keen of the Crow - Hyborea

Decent doom/death overall. Especially the up-tempo passages are quite good. It has some of that dull, almost deadpan, spoken word that reminds me of shitty Danish doomsters like Saturnus and Blazing Eternity. Curse Kim Larsen and his boring, ultra-slick guitar sound.

It's a song to listen to in a crisis. At the end of last year, I experienced a crisis of sorts and listened to this song a bit too much. Now I tend to associate the song with the crisis.
