DavidGrohl:
I enjoyed Fallout 1 and Tactics . . not so much Fallout 2.  I just felt Fallout 2 wasn't as well done.  I've played through one about 4 times with different abilities / set-ups.

Slick:
Oh no Scrambled Greg, oh no! Fallout 2 is the one I prefer! It's got a lot more ways around combat and such, there is so much more that you can do with the game that way. The world is larger, there's more to do, and more ways to do everything!
Gauss rifle? HELL YES! All the cool toys and all the cool places are great. My favorite part of the game is exploring new places, and man, fallout 2 has so much more to see and do in it. I highly recommend you try and get past those first few hours.

Bradwick:
I really loved both of those games, Fallout 2 especially.  I have yet to find a game to match the open ended feeling of it, especially in your interactions with the people you came across.  The Icewind Dale games and Baldur's Gate games that were done by Black Isle are also a lot of fun and similar in playing style but they're based off/in the Forgotten Realms universe so it's not the exact same feel.  Still, decent games if you enjoy that sort of thing.

zmeiat_joro:
I wouldn't count on anyone making a game that compares in the forseeable future, but I can't rule it out completely.

ScrambledGregs:
My problem with open ended games is that I have the knack for getting myself into situations I shouldn't be in and can't get out of. It's why I spent more time creating characters in Morrowind than I did playing the game. There is such a thing as TOO MANY options sometimes.

Maybe I will give Fallout 2 another chance, though. I always mean to, but I never get around to it.
