Roddy, you're an attractive dude. Those are all decent pictures of you considering you took them yourself but to be frank, none of them are head shot material.

Were you even remotely near me, I'd do yours for free. However, seeing as you're across the pond, I urge you to find a photographer and have him take your portrait. If you don't know any professionals or can't afford one, even a friend with a fancy DSLR will do. I am by no means a professional and I've done several photo sessions lately as favors for friends who are applying to acting school. This is what an amateur head shot should look like.

This isn't my favorite but it's the only JPEG file online at the moment (because it's the one she put on her Facebook).

As would I, but take it again and with 3x as many lights, or outdoors, (preferably outdoors) because one of the reasons it's so blurry is because one desk lamp doesn't put out nearly enough light to be useful.

We're pretty much the same way about the whole sport vs. LARP thing - if it was LARP, then I'd go around calling myself Jonlaug of the Kongshird (king's guard), the freeman who fight to defend glory and home... whatever. Besides, I don't think we would be able to break bones. The swords are pretty authentic, except from the bluntness, which means that they weigh between 800 and 1200 grams (2 to 3 pounds - historically they weighed 2,5 to 3,5). These things were made to be fast and cut, not to break anything. Fighting with a sword which would be able to break bones even if it was blunt would make you unable to recover from a strike fast enough not to get stabbed in the face.

We've been in this pretty great location fighting the last weekend, so I'll probably have some proper pics to post in just a couple of days.

I am quite scared of heights and mountain climbing was the single most terrifying experience of my life. The only photos I have of the trip were from ground level, after the fact, as I spent the whole time on the hill staring at my feet whilst saying 'ohshitohshitohshit'.

Thank you! Jon's teeth are all perfect but my teeth are actually a jumble of crooked horror. Trick is to not give a shit because teeth are teeth and they grow in however they please. I smile with all my teeth because they are the teeth I have and I don't have to force them perfect straight rows to make smiling look nice. Also fuck Hollywood movies where even the scary old hobo has perfectly straight, brilliantly white teeth.

Finally got an action shot of myself that looks halfway decent. I'm on the right:

I'm horribly under-stashed in this pic - the padding for my helmet shrinked, so I'm using a normal cap as temporary replacement, and my glove is held together with tape because I'm too lazy to fix it. But it gives a pretty good impression of what I'm doing, so I guessed it was a good enough choice.

Now, if I started hanging out with people with cameras, I could get some pics of me where I'm not all dressed up.

Ok so here are some photos of my trip to Melbourne. Photo dump ahead!

Having just got my license, we drove down!

Although it wasn't just my girlfriend and I in the car...

We stayed at a Mexican-themed motel on the way to Melbourne. It was actually really nice!

While staying at Harry's place his cat deigned to allow us to photograph it.

I was pleased with my burger.

I was taken by surprise at Flinders Street Station. Apparently this is my surprised face.

Some other stuff happened but we're not good at remembering to photograph things after like, day three of the holiday.

Wow, I guess Australian motels are a step up from U.S. motels? That looks incredibly nice, when I think "motel" I think shitty 1-floor strip building where it's never sunny, you can get STDs from breathing, and the government hides material witnesses.
