I'm not sure whether any of them would properly be called Oxfords, if by Oxfords you mean Oxford brogues, but regardless of that I like the first pair best. Brogues are quite popular with British girls but I don't think I'd wear them myself, they require nice ankles, thin legs and a sort of relaxed, just-got-out-of-bed-but-still-model-perfect sort of hairstyle.

Only the first pair would be considered an oxford. The second was me just whining and the third pair are kind of similar to oxfords, I guess.

I've got time to think about it, so I'm still looking for something suitable.

Let me just say, there is nothing wrong with wearing your grandparents' clothes. I have three skirts and one dress that my grandmother wore when she was my age, and those are some of the nicest clothes I have, and every time I wear them I get complimented on my clothes by either friends or strangers.

Cardigans are the best knits. Not buttoned up like that though, open over something else and then they are perfect.

What are the odds that I could pull off the hippie maxi-skirt look now and then without just looking like a complete wannabe-tribal moron white girl? (note: I would not pair it with a bag large enough to smuggle a washing machine)

My mother is a middle aged librarian and I've worked in libraries since I was 14. It is clinically impossible for me to become even slightly aroused at the notion of library attractiveness.

Well, that's a good thing.

Librarians around here don't really have the "librarian style" or whatever. Mostly because a lot of them are pretty young and dress "hip". I dunno. But glasses tend to be a trend. Actually that's how I found out about the website I ordered my current glasses from - a librarian liked my old (purple) glasses and we were talking about fun frames and she brought it up because of low cost. So hey.

Trendy like wearing glasses with non-rx lenses, or terrible eyesight is the new black?

It's ok! you can wear glasses without any lenses in them! I saw a girl doing this on the bus home from uni. I wanted to stab her with my counselling textbook.

I have black glasses at the moment but I really wish I still had my tortoise-shell ones, black stands out way too much against my face and light hair.

I really like those except every time I've tried on pairs like that I end up looking completely ridiculous. I never really got used to not having the nose rest things either. One day I will branch out and get glasses that don't look mostly the same as what I have now... one day.

Can you shop yourself into those glasses? Cause I can't imagine them looking good tbh. That said, I've always preferred more angular shapes.

I'd really like a pair of these in either purple or green.

Oh, fashion thread, I want to buy some nice flowy oversized cardigany type tops, can anyone give some suggestions of where I might find them? I also want some awesome square scarves to keep my neck warm in winter (not long knitted kind of scarves, but woven ones, because knitted scarves tend to make me overheat really quickly) but most of what I have seen are ugly. Paying attention to what I wear is hard work, dammit.

If you are looking for mainstream stores and stuff, Glassons and Dotti tend to have a good range of cardigan type things.

I don't know! I go to jimmy's lady's hair salon and the trainees practice on me so they take care of all that jazz. I get it redone every 2-3 months, by that time it is pretty faded and my regrowth makes it look pretty strange. What amazes me the most is that they never have had to bleach my hair, they just pack on the hair dye and it comes out lovely (even when all my hair was dark brown). They have magic hair dye, I guess. I will try to find out next time I get it done.

I'm pretty sure that was done at the salon we both go to, by Jimmy's girlfriend Lise.
