Now that I have frames that are a bit larger, I like how the edges of the frames don't interfere as much with my line of sight. I mean, it was barely noticeable with my last pair of glasses, but still.

You guys are going about this all wrong.

Wayfarer sunglasses are overdone but still completely acceptable. Wayfarer prescription glasses are almost exclusively never acceptable, and if you wear Wayfarer-style large plastic glasses that deviate from the classic shape you deserve to be punched in the dick.

That said, the girl and guy in the last two pictures Tania posted are fucking cute and both get a would. Especially the girl; those glasses suit her face perfectly and she's not just an example of "pretty in spite of fucking lame accessory"

This is all making me so sad, you guys. I ended up still wearing my big daggy cheapo glasses because my contacts are not behaving, I can only tolerate them for a few hours at a time so I don't wear them to work or most days at all. It is Big Hipster Glasses for me until next year when I can get new ones.  And even then they will have thick frames, most likely tortoiseshell, because that is what I like and I feel they identify me as a hipster/nerd.

At the end of the day they are just glasses. I mean, it'd be cool if they look nice but what is more important is that they facilitate vision.

I would argue that Dovey and Lunchy actually look quite good with their Big Hipster Glasses. Like, I don't look at pictures and be like "wow they'd look fantastic if it weren't for those glasses."
I've been told by like 5 people that I'd look really good with larger frames and I am seriously considering getting some when I get new glasses.

Hey, I need to get new glasses too. I can't decide if I should get new frames or see if I can get new lenses in my current ones (and be blind for a week while waiting for them? not sure how that would work, actually.) I cannot wear Big Hipster Glasses thick plastic frames so I have these right now:

Your glasses aren't big hipster glasses.

Make the distinction, people. I just posted a picture of my new glasses. They're tortoiseshell Ray-Bans. They're understated and don't make me look like I write for P4K. It's quite possible.

I like my glasses to correct the whole of my field of vision, not just a hole in the centre.  Therefore I wear the largest sensible glasses I can.  Fashion simply doesn't enter into it, one way or the other (so this comment is automatically rendered void in this thread, I guess).

I like plaid too, Tommy, please remember that. It combines my love of colour, checks, stripes and cotton in one easy-to-wear article!
I also think that glasses with smaller sized or metallic rims don't look very good on me, and there aren't too many choice outside that, especially when you only have $AU150 for a complete set and most frames go for around $AU300 at my optometrist.

i have, but i try not to have too much to do with those people. everybody should just wear what makes them happy.

also in posting my glasses pictures i was intentionally trying to illustrate the many different shapes and styles that oversized frames are available in and how they can be just as legitimate a venue to express your creativity and personal style as any other style of glasses, if you make the effort to find a style that actually suits you instead of just lazily following a trend. the dude in the last photo especially has a style of frames i would hardly call generic and looks awesome in them on top of it.

Ok, are we talking about these being stupid:

Or these:

Because if it's along the lines of the first picture, that is what size my glasses are. The second pair are stupid, but the first pair I actually happen to like (in similar styles) on pretty much everyone I've seen in them. Most of them happen to be hipsters, which is why I'm confused as to how big glasses have to be in order to be silly.

My glasses are actually the stereotypical black-framed, "emo glasses", not because of fashion really, they were just the ones in the shop which I thought looked least bad on me
The funny thing is that my 84 year old grandfather has exactly the same frames as me

SO I have a new question but want to comment on the glasses thing. I can't stand glasses that sit on someone's cheeks. I hate wearing them myself, and I think they look silly. I don't need glasses for seeing, myself, so I can only speak from the experience of wearing sunglasses.. but wouldn't that get annoying? Also I kind of hate the "new" thing where people wear glasses without lenses just to look cool.

So anyway, I need a purse. I've been going to a bajillion weddings lately and it seems that I do not have an appropriate purse for the occasion. I dislike brand name stuff in general, and don't want to spend a lot of money. I'd love to be able to just use my every day purse:

http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.99248475.jpg

but it's big, and kind of loud for the fancier weddings. It needs to have a shoulder strap for fatties (thick strap, longer than the basic shoulder length cause of um.. muscly arms), because I hate clutches. And it needs to fit in with the fancy outfits without being like, leather or silk or something.

Any ideas, oh fashionable peoples?

This is what I'm doing these days when I don't really leave my house, but do need to for something stupid like eating.

bonus: crappy quality picture of my new boots, as well as my messy room!

relevant: fuck you I wear ray bans and they are prescription and thick framed and I think they rock.

Also, my prescription is pretty big - which makes my lenses really thick, and anything but thick frames makes glasses look silly on my face.

Crappy cell phone picture, but I've got pretty solidly non-hipster glasses. They are mostly for driving, so I stayed away from anything with a thick lower frame bit like all those. Plus I think these make me look like a sexy secretary so there.

Where can I get a good men's wool coat without paying through the nose? My old one wore out at the end of last winter and I've just realized I never properly replaced it. I had one that I used to replace it, but it doesn't fit very well and I didn't pay for it so I don't mind shelling out a bit for one I'll actually like.

One of the key things to choosing glasses is after all that they're not supposed to touch your cheek. Its supposed to be the way that if you smile, your cheeks will still not touch your glasses.
Mine looks a bit big on me, because I have a small, round head, but uh... too new here so I won't post pic :)

Anyway, yes, about the purse. I usually just go with a simple black purse, about clutch size but its round. I really don't like the look of strapped clutches, specially not for us girls with a little meat on the bone. Why do you need such thick straps though? Thin straps works well as long as its the correct type of material and the purse falls down to your side on a flattering height. Consider buying one that doesn't necessarily go right under your arm, but perhaps one that you can have hanging over your shoulder from one side to another.
Also its easier to take care of that way when you've had one too many glasses of champagne  :-D

Not really.  I walked past a lady today who had completely fucked up her look by wearing a pair of huge, goggle-like bright blue glasses.  It took her from gorgeous to stupid.

I like dress #2 and the shoes, they are supar cute!

Hannah got this dress last night:

It is the best dress!  Now we just need to find a similar belt, because the dress did not come with it, and Han's also gonna try to find a little petticoat thinger to wear underneath to pouf it out a bit.
