I am so miserable. I hate school, I hate that i don't have time to do my homework. I don't sleep enough. My house is a shit hole 'cause I don't have time to clean. I work stupid hours at my stupid job that is too stupid important. I have no money, no time and no friends. I can't leave my job to have more time to do my work because I'll then have no money and have to leave uni because my parents aren't helping me out on principle. I am so tired and so stressed and I hate everything right now, I miss my family and my friends, and my cats and I really want to go home and sleep for a month.
damn sorry Gem.  :|  thats precisley the reason why I quit my gov't job before going back to school, I knew I would be in the same boat if I didnt.  I dont know your entire situation but it sounds like you need to either get work under control with its hours, get a new position, or quit all together for a job that has better hours.  hope things get better.

Guys guys I signed up for courses for next semester at uni this morning, and one of them happens to be in New York in late February! I really really hope I get accepted which I most likely will since I signed up this early, so if someone is in the NY area at that time and wants to meet up, just let me know!

Where in NY?  It's a surprisingly significant state.  But this reminds me that I need to sign up for courses.

GAH!  I'm up to my ass in work, especially now that I've solved a problem in lab that has been driving me crazy in the lab for a couple months.  Except that I think I'm going to completely rip my setup apart and change it to something that will hopefully be better at doing what I want it to do.  Unfortunately that will mean I've got to realign everything again.  Fortunately, I am armed with extra knowledge.  Also, I have to now model what's happening on the computer, and nobody seems to have a coherent answer as to what's happening, including my boss.  Yay discovery!

ETA:  My band had a photo shoot today.  The guy taking pictures was a friend of the singer/keyboardist/songwriter and also one of the students in the class I TA.  I've given him lots of really bad grades on his homework, so it was slightly awkward.  However, hopefully soon we'll have a press kit so we can get gigs where we don't have a connection.  Which will mean more work.

Haha, yeah, running into students is always awkward. I once bought food from a student who I had all sorts of problems with, including cheating. I was really glad that the food was pre-packaged and she didn't serve it to me.

Hey guys look at me, all skipping a lecture!

I was going to be late anyway, the lecturer is boring and I need to catch up on some stuff for this subject anyway so I am going to stay in my room and do some work and go to the next one.

That is what is going to happen. Honest. I am not going to spend an hour on the Internet. Honest.

The boy is out of the country for a few days, it's weirdly quiet here now. Who would have known being alone would feel so strange, I lived in this apartment on my own for over a year. On the plus side I'll actually get some quiet time so I can finish my essay!

Oh and one of the models for Sonia Rykiel for H&M looks a lot like Nosferatu, it's hilarious.

I don't mind at all running into students on the sidewalk, but I hate running into students on the subway. If we get into a conversation then it's no biggie anymore, but if I notice one of my students in the same subway car as me I always have this frustrating time deciding if I should say hello or just ignore them. A couple times when I've seen a student in the subway car when it's pulling into the station I'll walk down the platform to the next car.

Oh, I should probably have specified that, huh. I'll be in New York City, and according to the mail from the prof all students should try to find a place to stay in the Chelsea area. That's all I know at this point.

I had a Roast Beef day where I felt such crushing depression that it was literally a huge effort to get out of bed and the feeling that I am wasting my life became so overwhelming I cried. I have no idea why this happened. It wasn't even a bad day! I got to sleep in, then The Lady came over and taught me how to play some guitar (p.s; I suck at guitar) and then we went and had lunch and did some shopping. Then we watched The Wire. Then I went back to bed because I felt depressed. I don't get it! I think I need a fucking holiday and a massage yo.

I had a Roast beef week.

My grandma finally passed away last Tuesday. Missed a day or two of work trying to figure out how to cope with loss for the first time. The funeral was the day after Thanksgiving. It was a very strange ceremony.

The hearse was leaking gas like a sieve. Fuel was literally pouring out of it at a pace that was terrifying. So, the funeral director and his assistants transferred the casket from the hearse into a minivan in the middle of the road. I don't know how I feel about that, still.

Then my car wouldn't start at the graveyard. Plus, my Jehova's Witness side of the family started arguing religion with the pastor. JOY.

At least it is all over.

Things are pretty rad at the moment, apart from getting that scholarship i also won tickets to go to a pretty decent festival inexplicably headlined by the Black Eyed Peas, I am going to a friend's birthday party on friday and saw New Moon with a new friend while fairly buzzed. Oh and i also captained my team to win a kendo tournament.

a car hit me while i was crossing the street on the way home from work. i kind of wish i could say this is the first time this has happened but unfortunately it seems like every time it rains or gets dark around markham everyone flips the hell out and totally forgets how to drive and also that pedestrians exist and occasionally cross the street.

luckily, i did not die but my hands are all scraped up from when i fell down and the side of my body is still kind of achey and sore. i am not looking forward to giant purple bruises tomorrow morning :(

glyphic, I'm sorry about your grandma.

Tania, I'm sorry you are a car magnet.

I went clubbing tonight! I also went out to dinner beforehand which was nice, but the clubbing was the main focus. I really didn't want to go, but it was actually awesome because the people I went with ditched me, and I bumped into a girl from the ballet club and hung out with her and her friends all night. It was heaving because it's the last day of term and everyone and their sister was there (I saw my college mum, most of the other lawyers in my year, several of my dance class, almost the entire cast and the directors of my play [awkward] and a bunch of other people I knew, and I stayed in one place all night).

Now my head is ringing, I'm desperately thirsty and I have to sew a button back onto my dress, but I had a good time :)

I'm sorry everyone is having Roast Beef days.  I haven't had any in a while, so I'm kind of due for a month of depression when everything that I thought was going well turns out not to have been, but for now most things are going awesome.

I've solved a problem in the lab that I've been trying to figure out for months.  The solution was crazy counter-intuitive and doesn't make any sense to anybody I've told about it, but it looks like I've finally done something worthwhile since I joined this research group in May (admittedly, through about half of June I couldn't do anything due to required safety trainings/the computer department not giving me a computer for no reason).

One of my bands that I've been thinking about quitting because we never do anything just tried out a new vocalist and she's amazing for the stuff we're doing.  She's also absolutely gorgeous, so that's not bad.  She might be joining some friends and I on Friday for some drinks.

If you like science comedy, here is a stand-up comedian and this article features the quote:
Quote
I wish to thank Monica Gaughan, Peter May, Paul Sabatier, and three anonymous reviewers for their feedback on this manuscript. Barry Bozeman also provided comments. But since he is a disagreeable old reprobate I am not going to thank him! Indeed, any remaining errors are due entirely to his commentary.

p.s.  I'm fairly certain that I'm going to fail at least one of my classes this semester.  Oh well, academic probation will just make me work harder next semester.

If we get one C, we go onto academic probation.  Another one and we're gone.  Hopefully I'm not still on academic probation, because my C last semester got changed to a B since the professor graded my final exam completely wrong.
