Oh i LOVE that Husker Du album.  It was one of the first full length vinyls i bought.

Last albums bought:  Postal Service (all three cd eps), Lauryn Hill - Miseducation (vinyl), Rainer Maria - Long Knives Drawn (vinyl), Prince & The Revolution - Paisley Park (vinyl) , Anti-Flag - Die For Your Government CD, Guitar Wolf - Maximum Rock N Roll CD, and Death Cab For Cutie - You Can Play These Songs With Chords CD.

I tend to buy music in big spurts every 2 months or so.  More often now since I lost the 3000+ mp3s on my comp and have to sound card..

M83 - Before the Dawn Heals Us

Bought at the Coachella festival and had Anthony sign it.  He's a very shy and polite french fella. :)

I bought Bright Eyes' I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning. Love it.

I'm thinking of picking up Bloc Party's Silent Alarm or the Kaiser Chiefs' Employment. "She Hears Voices" and "I Predict A Riot" are so catchy!

I CAN'T CHOOSE

the kaiser chiefs record isn't too bad - the singles are the best off it, though.  i'd go bloc party personally.

For Banquet alone, Bloc Party wins, but then their album is half brilliant dance, half random, downbeat meandering.
The Kaiser Chiefs are pretty consistent, but can get a little grating..if you like britpop, then Kaisers win, but BP are more varied.

In other news, I got the new Spoon album.
Which rocks my indie socks off.

pssst - the other one's called Digital Ash in a Digital Urn, and has moments of utter brilliance (Down in a Rabbit Hole, Easy Lucky Free, Hit the Switch and Take it Easy), but then has slighlty...less good  tracks.

I can't bring myself to actually call a Bright Eyes track shit, but...yeah.

IWAIM is amazing. And outselling the other one by about 3-2.

Didn't Oberst bitch out some of his fans for being emo-groupies? I can't wait til he pulls a Cobain and releases a record with liner notes that are just an anti-fan rant.

That having been said, I know I'll buy the record.

And I still need to listen to Digital Ash, if only for Nic Zinner's guitar and Jimmy Tamborello's beatsssx.

I love that Cadallaca album, 'Two Beers Later' is one of those songs that just lodges itself in your head and won't budge for days. For some reason I've never got around to checking out Excuse 17, I'll have to borrow some off my friend. She's got more riot grrl than you can shake a stick at (even if she does call Corin Tucker a 'fucking faker tourist' these days), so something will be very wrong with the world if she doesn't own it.

O.o I feel so guilty of my music tastes amongst all these indie folk.

Okay, just yesterday, I expanded my music collection by a bit--

Metric--Old World Underground, Where are You Now?
On a whole, it's pretty good--there's some songs that sound like they were just added as filler; "The List" and "Love is a Place" didn't really do anything for me, but it's more than made up for with "Succexy", "Wet Blanket", and "Dead Disco". Even if you don't /like/ to dance, I think you should take a look at it.

The Killers--Hot Fuss.
I really don't understand what all the fuss was about. It was /okay/--not wonderful. Not something I really wanted to waste twenty bucks on.

Thursday--Five Stories Falling

It's true; I'm a closet Thursday fan. Shoot me now, if you like. I have no idea why I like them so much; I'll be the /first/ to admit that they take themselves much too seriously, and there are much better scremo bands out there, even if scremo isn't the best genre ever. They're just addictive on a deeper, primal, "I need to scream my lungs out" level. If for nothing else, love the CD for "Jet Black New Year".

=le cough= I'll be shutting up now, before I dig myself into an even deeper hole.

There was that time he stopped a show when the fans started singing along to every single word, because it made him feel 'like Dashboard Confessional'...

But yeah, some of the fans are insufferable.

On topic - got a CD of The Arctic Monkeys, who are some next big something or other, but that's neither here nor there, as it was free.

quasimoto -- the further adventures of lord quas
well i didnt really buy it, the magazine i edit got sent a promo copy. and i'm keeping it. very good so far. hooray for free stuff.

combat wombat -- unsound system & unkle ho -- roads to roma
two australian hip-hop records.
the first is a bit of great, angry, radical left-wing rap (with songs about climate change, immigration detention centres, talkback radio, and mounted police (fave line: sponsored by multinational forces / get those animals off those horses!)
the second is sort of weird gypsy jazz / broken beat mostly instrumental stuff. cute. elefant traks reprazent (anyone know what i'm talking about?)

ah man aphi you're killing me with your "old world underground" comments. i'm glad you like it, but to me, that is absolutely one of the most amazing albums ever made. filler? i don't think metric will ever have a filler song. and i find "love is a place" to be completely beautiful and "the list" to be totally awesome and catchy. naturally, you are entitled to your own opinions and these are only my own thoughts. but, as metric is one of my favourite favourite bands, i felt compelled to give my two cents.

erm... the end.

I haven't heard it yet, but have been anticipating it for sometime; although my friend told me that Quas "went all mainstream". Too bad. I was just getting into The Unseen as well.

Ah, forgive me. I've only actually listened to the album about three times now, and that's with distraction(You might call Marketing class distraction).

The ones that caught my attention first were the ones mentioned earlier---now that I listen more intently, you're absolutely right. The rest of the album is HELL of good.

I bought that Ep just for Jet Black New Year as well.  God... that song.. it just -does- something to me.  I think it's what got me hooked on Thursday to begin with..

As for digital Ash. Meh.  I can come close to saying there might be a track or two on there that is shit.  I bought both albums the day they came out  and listen to Wide Awake probably 3 times a week.  Digital Ash has been played a total of 3 times.

I did catch Leno last night where he performed Protest Song and now i'm super excited about the upcoming show...

Violent Femmes-S/T LP
I found this at a thrift store in a box of what seemed like mostly Duran Duran records. I guess the original owner didn't like this record much as I plopped it on my turntable and there was not a single crackle or scratch on it. This sounds very indie-rock for 1983 maybe even emo as the lyrics are extremly angstful. His voice isn't too annoying at least and I can associate with some of the words in a guilty pleasure kind of way.

Skullflower-IIIrd gatekeeper
I'm on a total Skullflower binge right now. I've not had a chance to listen to all of this but I'm loving it already. This reminds me somewhat of a Godflesh album I listened to but without the vocals. Its also a bit like Sunn or other drone metal-ers but with drums and a bit more rhythm to it.

Skullflower-Orange Canyon Mind CD
Man, I totally love this. Their previous record "Exquisite Fucking Boredom" was a revealation to me musically but this is even better. My favorites are the buzzing, repetitive title track the main riff of which is simply superb and the very appropraitely titled "Anhilating Angel" which perfectly invokes a pissed off celestial being destroying all in its path via its flailng guitar squall. If you ever wondered what would happen if a Krautrock band played stoner metal this is one to check out.

Black Boned Angel-Supereclipse CD
This disk is Mr. Cambell Kneale the man who is prolific NZ drone outfit Birchville cat motel trying his hand at Sunn 0))/ Earth style drone metal. There are three 20 minute songs on here all three of them very repetitive. I like this a fair bit but was somewhat annoyed when I bought the full album that the final songs were just essentially extended versions of the samples I had listened to with no real new parts.

I recently got hold of:

Queens of the Stone Age - Lullabies To Paralyze = possibly better than the last album. If you liked Songs for the Deaf, then chances are you'll love this... the songs are much catchier and the album just generally meshes much better than the previous one.

System of a Down - Mezmerize = If anyone here likes SoaD... this generally sounds a lot more like the stuff from their first album rather than Toxicity, though some of the songs go a little over the top with their politics. The single, BYOB, is pretty guilty of this, but on the whole the songs are much catchier.

Also got Foo Fighters - The Colour & The Shape, but as I'm sure most are aware, that's old, heh.

Oh, and got hold of the new Limp Bizkit album. It's even worse than Chocolate Starfish was... I mean, *fish at least had some good moments towards the end of the album. This is just trash... seven tracks of it.

Once I get paid I'll be buying the QotSA and SoaD albums, easy.

er, pardon me for buying mainstream, but:

Moby - Hotel
Garbage - Bleed Like Me
Nine inch Nails - With Teeth

At first Moby's album seemed pretty cool, and I'll probably enjoy it if I listen to it again, but It's just kinda wore off in the wake of the last two.
Bleed Like Me is good, but it lacks a lot of the electronics and programming that made Garbage garbage, also, the lyrics don't connect with me as well as the ones on version 2.0.
With Teeth is awesome. I've posted like 10 times about it in the With Teeth thread.

edit: I've yet to find any Metric at local music stores, but I've heard about 5 of their songs, and they're all awesome. A particular favourite of mine is 'wet blanket.'

Last week, I special-ordered Onelinedrawing - The Volunteers from FYE, because they're the only place in San Antonio that has it, but not in stock, of course.

And I'll get it Mesmerize the following Saturday, because once I go out with my girlfriend tomorrow, I won't have enough money to buy a CD and be able to eat until I get paid.

I also want to get the new Gorillaz album, Demon Days, but I think I might wait on that one.

About damn time, I've been listening to songs off both these albums for about 2 years. I've been putting those album buys for FAR too long.

Aww...I've been meaning to get a whole Mogwai album for ages, but my refusal to spend money on music has been something of a hinderance to this.

I got sent the new Maria Taylor album , 11:11, which is much better than I expected. It still sounds like Azure Ray, but darker and poppier and somehow even better. Looking forward to hearing what Orenda Fink's solo stuff is like when it comes out...
